The only pump shitgun’s action i ever liked was the one i carried sometimes in very dense jungles on ‘point’ where there was a high likelihood that if you made ‘contact’ with the enemy, it would be a situation where you’d come around a turn in a trail and ‘whoops’ instant CQB! The Ithaca we used, which was pretty fast, had the additional advantage where the sear would trip every time you racked the slide back as long as you held the trigger back. I don’t know if they did that naturally or if the armorers tricked them out but a good shooter could make it sound like a semi-auto with some practice, and since confrontations like these almost never allowed proper target acquistion opportunities, the fire mode was ‘spray and pray’ from the hip, until the mag was empty, and then quickly fall back to your squad, drop a frag behind you if you could on the way, and go from there, which is one of the few valid situational uses of a shit gun, IMHO. Muzzle velocity 1,325 fps Application: Hunting medium game Affordable enough as a practice load Tight patterns that are even with each shot #00 has 9 pellets; each .33 caliber pellet has the energy of a handgun bullet The shot is supported by heavy cushioning wad and granulated polymer bufferingCons I a bought a Remington 870 Express shotgun and i want to know if i can use slugs with it? Will it cause any damage In 20 Gauge ammunition there are bird shot (#1-#12), slugs (1/2 oz.), and buckshot (0,00, 000, and 0000), but smaller and lighter than the 12Gauge. In the .410 shotguns there are bird shot(#1-#12), buckshot (00, 000, and 0000), and .410 slugs (1/4 oz.).
While you can expect to see around 1,100 fps at the muzzle with these cartridges, Federal is also offering 2 ¾” versions of these shells filled with one row less than 3" shell (34 pellets) at 1,250 fps of muzzle velocity.Yes, the pump shotguns are modular. If you do not like the wooden furniture on the shotgun you can change it to synthetic parts. These “choked” barrels are more or less used to tighten the shot pattern, compared to cylinder barrels, which have no bore reduction. The pump action shotgun can fire either lethal or non lethal rounds. Non lethal rounds like bean bags or rubber projectiles can stop violent encounters without killing or causing serious bodily harm. When the Pump action shotgun is loaded with normal shot shells, it can be used to hunt game or be used as a defensive weapon.
Considering action (mechanism) types, today we have three main ones: break-action (single shot and double barrel), pump or slide-action, and auto-loading (semi-automatic) action. Not quite, MJ, I’ve never “pointed in the general direction and pulled the trigger” and HIT the target I was aiming at. “General” direction is movie-mythology at best. Ah, the fond memories of the Ithaca ump 12 gauge while on patrol. Simply a stellar performer! Smooth, worked fast and well. Personally, I like the Mossberg, Win.1200 and the Rem.870 models, have at least one of each. Shotguns are excellent for those who “have” bug-out. Most thugs will not want to engage someone with a pump shotgun they are toting. here is a great deal of cultural “prepper mythology” out there regarding bugging out, urban survival, and dealing with civil unrest. Having personally been involved in the 1992 Rodney King Spring Festival, (while not a civil war) I never felt undergunned with my pump shotgun, I was carrying. Never felt undergunned with my personally owned AR-15 I had in me of the more tougher areas either. There is NO perfect long gun for protection. Fight with what you have, and don’t worry. Hulls are difficult to reload, because crimp is melted at the center Tight pattern and penetration are not suitable for confined spaces in your homeWhat Recent Buyers Report Recent buyers were quick to say a lot of good things about these shots. Most were deer hunters that use a Remington 870. They said the shooting groups were pretty tight and have even landed a deer with at least one or two shots. One user said he managed to land a near 200-pound whitetail buck within two shots. He said had he not switched over from his previous shots, he would have missed it over and over again. Why it Stands Out to Us These shots come in a slightly larger box than those currently on the market to this point. They are pretty much the textbook example of what shotgun shells should be. The pellets allow for tighter shooting groups and allow for better impact and kill shots. They fit in 12-gauge Remington 870 shotguns perfectly and feed through the mag tube without any jamming or reliability issues. So all in all, they are reliable and accurate, if and when used properly. These shotgun shells are reliable for most hunting and target-shooting applications, and they have the ability to travel quite fast. A tried-and-true load, the three-inch, 12-gauge, #4 buck is the best lead shotshell for predator hunting.Regarding personal and home protection, the rule of thumb is to use No. 4 buckshot for close self-defense and under 20 yards, and No. 1 or No. 0 buckshot for ranges under 40 yards as they might be more effective than 00 buckshot. For instance #7 (.10"/2.5mm) shot birdshot is much smaller than birdshot #1 (.16"/4.0mm).Yeah, don’t forget, wasn’t it just last year that the ‘goons’ tried to ban tactical shotguns as well? But i’m sorry to disagree with you about ‘if you could own only one gun a shotgun is the absolute way to go. Maybe, and that’s a huge caveat, for an expert 3 gun competitive shooter after he got tired of being a top sporting clays shooter…
Besides smaller sizes of buckshot and birdshot, there are also slugs - the largest round available in a shotgun shell. More recoil compared to 34 pellet loads The 3" Federal shell is shorter than others 3" shellsWhat Recent Buyers Report These shells were a hit among the new users who were small and large game hunters. Among the targets of choice were varmint, waterfowl, and whitetail deer, to name a few. They managed to shoot some pretty precise kill shots, thanks to the tight shooting groups. One user said the shells he previously relied on for hunting didn’t do a good enough job, but when he tried these out, he knew what his new “go-to” shells were going to be.Why it Stands Out to Us These come in a package of four shells. While they may not be enough for some hunters, one might just be enough depending on where exactly you hit your shot. So one shot can do just enough if you’re out hunting. Browse other Remington 870 & 1100 I’ve owned a Rem 870 for along time and it is a nice shotgun. A few years ago I bought an IAC “Hawk 982″ tactical. (18.5” barrel, Improved cylinder, 5rds+ 1 in the tube, ghost ring sight) It is a Chinese clone of the 870, but made completely out of steel. It is a bit heavier, but I think it is much more durable. It takes all Rem 870 parts for the most part and breaks down just like the 870. If you want a decent shotgun for home defense at about one-half the price…this would be a good way to go. I’ve had it it about 4-5 years now, with no problems of any kind. I learned back in February of 1977, right after I was finished with my “probation” time as a rookie police officer, that “racking” the slide on any pump shotgun isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Had two suspects at gunpoint, waiting for my backup to arrive, had to pump a round into the chamber on one of the suspect’s as he reached into his waistband. His partner froze like a statue, the “reacher” pulled out his empty hand s-l-o-w-ly, than instantly went into a Felony Factor 15 all out sprint to flee. We caught several blocks later of course. I did learn that “some” folks aren’t impressed by the shotgun at all. And no, it doesn’t strike “fear” into the hearts of thugs. In my experience, most parolees and experienced thugs(who’ve no yet been accorded parolee status), bet that most homeowners WON’T pull the trigger on them.
