Dr. Dre and partner-of-late Mel-Man produced much of the album, while Eminem and his Detroit crew, F.B.T., handled most of the rest. The sound shifts between slick, bright, melodic funk that’s so R&B-ish, you can dance to it (“Who Knew,” “The Real Slimy Shady”) and slow, driving, outrageous-bass hardcore raw hip-hop made for cruising in lowriders (“Amityville,” “I’m Back”). Seven years after The Chronic and fourteen after the dawn of N.W.A, Dre is that legendary coach taking a third different team to a national title, still making your head hurt from all the nodding, still crazy dope after all these years.Eminem's next album, 2004's Encore, was less successful than his previous efforts. It still featured popular songs such as "Like Toy Soldiers" and "Mockingbird."

While there, Marshall got a phone call from Dre at the studio who was playing a beat in the background. Marshall asked what beat was playing and asked Dre to send a tape of the beat, which would later become "Kill You". Although many songs were written then, the first song he wrote for the album shortly after finishing work on The Slim Shady LP in late 1998 was "Kim", a song that portrays Marshall vividly murdering his then-wife, Kim Mathers. The song doesn't appear on the clean version and is instead it's replaced by "The Kids". The explicit version of this song is also featured as a bonus track on the explicit version. "Criminal" was based on a piano riff that Marshall overheard producer Jeff Bass playing in the next studio, whom also gave Mathers the inspiration for "Marshal Mathers" after hearing him strumming a guitar and spontaneously singing the hook with it.The most famous track "Stan" samples Thank You by Dido. The 45 King, the song's producer, heard the song on an advertisement for the movie Sliding Doors and added a drum and bass line. As soon as Marshall heard Dido's lyrics, he could hear in his mind the lyrics portraying an obsessed fan and began crafting a song about an obsessed fan who killed himself and his pregnant girlfriend (played by Dido in the video) cause Eminem wouldn't respond to his letters. The heavily hyped record became an instant success, going on to sell over three million copies. Eminem's first single, "My Name Is," mixed a childish humor and energy with rampant profanity and flashes of violence — a potent and fascinating combination that felt different from anything else in rap. He recalled, "I finally found something that yeah, this kid over here, you know, he may have more chicks, and he may, you know, have better clothes, or whatever, but he can't do this like me. You know what I mean? He can't write what I'm writing right now. And it started to feel like, you know, maybe Marshall's gettin' a little respect." Eminem attended Lincoln High School in Warren, Michigan, where he failed the ninth grade three times and eventually dropped out at the age of 17. Yet despite being a poor student, Eminem always had a deep affinity for language, devouring comic books and even studying the dictionary. The gritty film was a critical and commercial success. The following year he won an Academy Award for “Lose Yourself,” a song featured in the movie. After reteaming with D12 for D12 World (2004), Eminem released Encore (2004) and a greatest-hits set, Curtain Call: The Hits (2005), both of which sold well but failed to garner as much attention as his previous albums had. He then stepped out of the public eye, resurfacing briefly in 2006 to eulogize friend and D12 member Proof, who was killed outside a Detroit nightclub. Two years later Eminem published the memoir The Way I Am, which included photos, drawings, and lyrics. The Marshall Mathers LP 2 (2013) also garnered numerous accolades, and the rapper later followed with Revival (2017), Kamikaze (2018) and Music to Be Murdered By (2020). Marshall Bruce Mathers III 17 Ekim 1972, meşhur olduğu sahne adıyla Eminem ya da ikinci kişiliği Slim Shady, Akademi ve Grammy ödüllü Amerikalı rapçi, yapımcı ve aktördür Eminem’s 1999 triple-platinum major-label debut, The Slim Shady LP, was a shot in hip-hop’s arm, the grand entrance of a hurricane dressed as a Detroit kid with major-league skills and a potential mental disorder. This time out, he’s more funny and much more scary. On The Marshall Mathers LP he hits you with the lyrical complexity and detailed narratives of Biggie, the hilarious, is-he-kidding-or-not button-pushing of Howard Stern, the disaffected angry-white-boy-ness of Fight Club and the fearless, kill-me-if-you-can energy of Tupac. He has a macabre imagination to rival Satan’s and an incredible ability to create new rhyme patterns. He has a frightening proclivity to spit venom one moment and humor the next, and a never-ending slew of jaw-dropping punch lines. He is, simply, better than any other MC in hip-hop except for Jay-Z — yes, better than Beanie Sigel, Pharoahe Monch, Snoop, Common, Prodigy, Xzibit, Redman, Big Pun and all of the Lox. It feels dangerous to think of a white boy nearing the aesthetic zenith of the celebration of black maleness called hip-hop, but just as blacks have to be twice as good to get ahead in life, to get ahead in hip-hop Eminem has had to be twice as ill. Finally, this summer you’ll also see Eminem become 2000’s Luther Campbell or Sister Souljah, the rapper attacked in public for supposedly bringing our standards to new lows. His insistent, tiring gay bashing almost begs you to hate him: “I’ll stab you in the head, whether you’re fag or les/Or a homosex, a hermaph or a trans-a-ves. . . ./Hate fags? The answer’s yes.” This may just be grade-school bullshit, as Eminem claims, but it’s bullshit nonetheless. But the man who pronounced that he was sent here to “piss the world off” knows that being hated is essential to his appeal. It creates a boundary between his fans and outsiders, whether they be parents or his much-maligned TRL peer Christina Aguilera.

He assumed the stage name M&M, a playful reference to his initials, which he later began writing phonetically as "Eminem."Eminem identified with the nihilistic rage of late-1980s and early-1990s rap music, and he was especially taken with N.W.A., the popular and highly controversial gangster rap crew from Los Angeles.

Although it featured solid production from Dr. Dre, the album met with middling reviews because of its over-the-top attempts to shock and its somewhat dated catalog of pop culture references. Nevertheless, the single “Crack a Bottle” became Eminem’s second song to top the Billboard singles chart (after “Lose Yourself”), and Eminem won Grammy Awards for both the song and the album. His next album, Recovery (2010), was a response to the criticisms leveled at Relapse. Although Eminem was no longer at the vanguard of hip-hop, Recovery demonstrated that he remained a potent commercial force, as the soul-baring singles “Not Afraid” and “Love the Way You Lie” (featuring the singer Rihanna) both became major hits. Eminem reteamed with Rihanna on “The Monster,” from The Marshall Mathers LP 2 (2013), and the album became his sixth to win the Grammy Award for best rap album. Eminem received mixed reviews for Revival (2017), and Kamikaze (2018) was described by many critics as somewhat curmudgeonly in tone. Such criticism had little impact on sales, however, and in 2020 Music to Be Murdered By became his 10th consecutive album to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 chart. In addition, Eminem occasionally collaborated with rapper Royce da 5′9″ under the name Bad Meets Evil; among their releases was the EP Hell: The Sequel (2011).

By that time Eminem had developed the persona of the inhibitionless Slim Shady, who gave voice to Eminem’s id in often vulgar and violent lyrics. With Dr. Dre as his producer and mentor, Eminem released The Slim Shady LP early in 1999. Benefiting from the inventive channel-surfing music video for the hit song “My Name Is” and the instant credibility of Dr. Dre’s involvement, the album sold several million copies, and Eminem won two Grammy Awards and four MTV Video Music Awards.

At age 14 he began rapping in clubs in Detroit, Michigan, and, when unexcused absences kept him in the ninth grade for the third year, he quit school, determined to make it in hip-hop music. As Eminem, he made a name for himself in the hip-hop underground, both as a solo artist and as a member of the Detroit-based rap sextet D12 (also known as the Dirty Dozen). His first album, Infinite (1996), sold poorly, however, and he continued to work menial jobs. The recording took two months and by February had 16 tracks and was ready to release the album. Marshall submitted the album to Interscope and they said it was one track short of a great album. Although "who Knew was originally pending to be the album's lead single, Interscope CEO Jimmy Iovine suggested a lighter, more radio-friendly song similar to My Name Is from The Slim Shady LP. This thought greatly stressed out Marshall and led him to write The Way I Am. Mathers would later write "The Real Slim Shady", which was released as the first single off the album. The Way I Am, however, was released as the second single and talks about his fame and struggles going out in public and features Marilyn Manson who was accused of inspiring the Columbine shooting in Colorado. Kim, who claimed that she didn't know her father and had been sexually abused by her stepfather, came to live with Eminem and his mother Deborah. Early Life and EducationAmerican rapper, record producer and actor Eminem was born Marshall Bruce Mathers III on October 17, 1972, in St. Joseph, Missouri. Nevertheless, The Marshall Mathers LP also came under a firestorm of criticism for its excessive profanity, glorification of drugs and violence and its apparent homophobia and misogyny.
Despite the controversy, the record received critical acclaim. Metacritic gave the record a 78 out of 100. A critic for The Villiage Voice gave the album an A saying it's "a record that rarely flags for more than two or three tracks" and called Eminem "exceptionally witty and musical, discernibly thoughtful and good-hearted, indubitably dangerous and full of shit", while declaring the album "a work of art whose immense entertainment value in no way compromises its intimations of a pathology that's both personal and political". "I would change schools two, three times a year," Eminem later recalled. "That was probably the roughest part about it all."
